First day: school visit- Stamford International School (Group 1)

Day 1 - 25 Nov 2013

Highlight of the day - Visit to Standard International School. Here's the preview.

Before the visit, we had a lovely breakfast at our beautiful hotel...

All of us were cheery but someone seemed to have awakened on the wrong side of bed...guess who he/she was...no prize for getting it right.

Arriving at Stamford International School

We were given a very warm welcome by the principal,
Mr Seah (left), who is also a Singaporean.

Mr Seah showed us around the school...

Look at their lovely library...
and the 'untouched' view from one of their corridors.
The school arranged for us to have a lesson with the music teacher.

Preparing to learn to play the angklung.

We thought it would be difficult to learn to play the instrument in half an hour but we were wrong! We actually managed to learn to play two songs in that short time. See our serious faces as we learned how to play the angklung. Be sure to catch the video of our performance! I think we did an excellent job!

Our vice principal and teachers joined in the fun too!

We were given little angklungs as souvenirs for our hard work.
Thank you so much! We love them!

Then it was time to meet up with the students...and what better way to get to know one another than through food and games.

A conversation starter: the painting on my hand.

We met this primary three boy at the canteen.
He is a Singaporean!

Sorry you couldn't see us playing with our friends but here's the pictures taken after our play in their field. If you look closer, you will see that we were all sweaty. :-)

A parting shot at the school lobby...

on our own...
and with the Stamford school personnel.
Thank you so much for hosting us!

Next we went to Pakarangan Ulin Hong or Pusat kajlan malnan rakyat (Cultural Centre). Let me tell you we had a most enjoyable time. Now we know how to make a dagger, a whip and a caterpillar from banana leaves!

Traditional music welcomed us.
